I remember that several weeks ago, my team went to Free Space, where was still opened, to interview their participants and volunteers. We brought our recorder, notebook, pen, question list and anything we though was necessary.

At that night, free space was hosting their last thanks-everyone party. At the end of the activity, there was a speech from the core members summarized the whole project. People cheered for free space and got quiet excited. After the party, we stopped a bunch of participants and volunteers started the interview. The weird thing is we found that the answers we got are 90% same. The questions like “which activity impressed you most and how you think free space influenced the community” were the top 2 questions getting the same feedback. It confused us at first. Then after relistened the speech, we found these questions were all talked about by core members that night. And most of the audience were convinced and remembered their ideas consciously or unconsciously. Even though the core members talked only a few minutes, what they said marked on audiences’ mind. So pay attention to any possible distraction before interview. That’s what I learned.
